Frequently Asked

Questions

How do I know if I need therapy?

Everyone can benefit from therapy. Just as an individual goes to a doctor or dentist to maintain their physical wellbeing, one should access therapy for their mental wellbeing. Therapy can help you understand your emotions, feelings, actions and behavior better. It can help provide a space where you feel validated, supported and accepted for who you are. Therapy can help you learn how to love yourself, work towards your version of happiness, and help empower you to create change in your life.

What's the difference between a Psychiatrist and a therapist?

A Psychiatrist is a medical doctor who diagnoses and prescribes medication for people living with mental disorders, and aren't often trained to provide therapy. A therapist is a mental health professional who is trained to provide a space for their clients to understand their patterns of behavior, emotions, actions, and find healthy ways of coping to get to desired level of functioning. Well-rounded treatment is not possible with medication alone, so it's often recommended that clients' seek therapy along with taking medication.

How do I know if my therapist is the right fit for me?

If your therapist makes you feel safe, comfortable, supported and heard; allows you to be honest, vulnerable, and validated; doesn't judge you or shame you; and doesn't impose their own values onto you, then that does feel like the right fit. I provide 15 minute free consultations to help you decide if I'm the right fit for you.

How long does a session last? How is it conducted?

A session lasts for 50 minutes and is conducted virtually through Google Meet.

How are sessions scheduled?

When you fill out the form to book a session, you can add your availability during the week. After you submit, you will be contacted through your preferred mode of communication and then we can figure out a time that works for both of us. My working hours are 10 am - 8 pm, Monday through Saturday.

How many sessions can I have during the week?

The starting few sessions will be conducted weekly, and then we can have a conversation to help decide if weekly sessions are able to provide you the support you need. If you need more support, then we can have more than a session in a week, else if you feel like you don't need as much support then we can opt for sessions once in 2 weeks.

How much does a session cost? What if I'm unable to afford a session?

For individual therapy, I offer a sliding scale of ₹1200 - 2000/- per session; for couples and family therapy, I offer a sliding scale of  ₹1500 - 2500 per session;  and for clients residing outside of India, the fee differs based on country of residence. A sliding scale payment method requires the client to pay anywhere between the range mentioned, for each session. I believe therapy should be affordable so if you're unable to afford a session, we can have a conversation on what you can afford and identify an amount that is able to meet both our needs.

What's the payment policy?

Payment can be made through UPI or Net banking, based on the client’s convenience.

Please make the payment 48 hours before the start time of the particular session, and inform me via a text or a screenshot of every payment made. In case you’d like an extension on making the payment, please let me know. Client’s session will only be confirmed once they make the payment.

What's the cancellation policy?

It’s the client’s responsibility to inform the therapist if they want to cancel/reschedule the session. If the client cancels/reschedules their appointment 24 hours before the scheduled time, no amount will be charged.

If the client cancels/reschedules after the 24 hour window has passed, half (50%) of the fee paid for the session will be charged. The remaining can be refunded or carried over for the booking of the next session. If the client is a no-show during the session, without any prior notice, a full amount paid for the session will be charged.

If the client has to cancel/reschedule their slot post the 24 hours window has passed, or if the client is a no-show without any prior information, due to an unforeseeable circumstance, then no charges would be levied.
